It was a tough outing for the Boerne Champion softball team Friday when they visited Smithson Valley.
The Lady Rangers knocked out 11 hits and held the Lady Chargers hitless to record the 17- 0 victory over Champion.
The Chargers are 9-10 overall and 3-3 in district. They closed out the first round of district play Tuesday at home against Seguin and start the second round Friday against Wagner.
Smithson Valley took control of the contest right away and scored 8 runs in the first and added 9 in the second. The Rangers didn’t bat in the third and the game ended after that.
Champion didn’t have a hit in the game but they only struck out twice, which means they were putting the ball in play, forcing the Rangers defense to get outs.
The Chargers had two base runners, Alison Kory and Riley Murrish, who both reached on errors. Murrish even stole a base.
Ava Trevino and Mylie Parker both pitched in the game and threw an inning each and combined to only give up one earned run and 3 walks. Trevino gave up 5 hits and Parker 6 hits.
