BHS softball downs Davenport, 6-2

The Boerne High softball team stayed unbeaten in district after the Lady Greyhounds recorded a 6-2 win over Davenport Tuesday in Boerne on Teacher Appreciation Night.

The Boerne High softball team stayed unbeaten in district after the Lady Greyhounds recorded a 6-2 win over Davenport Tuesday in Boerne on Teacher Appreciation Night.

The Lady Greyhounds are 17-8 overall and 2-0 in district. They visited Canyon Lake Friday and host Fredericksburg on Tuesday.

Boerne scored single runs in the second and third innings and then put some distance between themselves and the Wolves in the fifth with 4 runs to take a 6-0 lead.

Davenport tried to rally and did score 2 in the top of the sixth frame but that’s as close as they came.

BHS finished with 8 hits including three doubles. Heidi Maytum doubled off the wall and scored, Ava Renteria doubled, drove in 2 runs and scored, Taylor Wilson doubled, picked up an RBI and scored, Ava Nieto knocked out 2 singles and scored twice, Cameron Cooper took a walk, Taryn Madlock singled, Ava Rodriguez singled and collected 2 RBI, Jess Aguirre singled and drove in the team’s first run of the game, while Bre Krause scored once.

Ava Rodriguez went all 7 innings in the circle and tossed 123 pitches to get the win. Rodriguez scattered 3 hits and didn’t give up an earned run, struck out 9 and walked 3.
