The Comfort softball team put together a late rally on Tuesday and scored 5 runs in its last at bat to defeat the Florence Buffaloes, 6-4.
Comfort is 11-10 overall and is 3-0 in district. They visited Blanco on Friday and host Ingram on Tuesday.
In Tuesday’s game, Florence was leading 3-1 after six innings. Comfort came up to bat in the seventh frame and scored 5 runs to take a 6-3 lead. The Lady Buffs tried to answer in the bottom of the seventh and managed to push in one run but couldn’t get any closer.
Comfort used 2 walks, 4 singles, a double and an error to get its 5 runs in the top of the seventh.
The Deer finished with 7 hits in the game, including a double from Morgan Hansen, who drove in 2 runs and scored once. Kendyl Rust and Tori Hernandez singled and scored, Emma Wardlaw walked twice, singled and drove in a run, Kaydence Stehling singled, pushed in a run and scored, while taking 2 walks. Hope Van Geffen singled and Katie Haffner picked up an RBI.
Wardlaw went the distance in the circle and gave up 4 hits, only 1 earned run, walked 1 and struck out 12.
