Lady Greyhound softball slams Seguin

The Lady Greyhounds softball team was on the road Tuesday and earned a big win at Seguin, 12-1. 

Boerne High is 9-6 overall and returns to Seguin this weekend to play in the Seguin tourney to close out tournament play.

In Tuesday’s game, Boerne scored a run in the first inning and then plated 4 more runs in the second for the 5-0 lead. Seguin scored its only run of the contest in the bottom of the second to make it 5-1, but the Lady Hounds finished the game with 4 more runs in the fourth and 3 in the sixth.

BHS tallied 11 hits in the game including a home run by Ava Renteria, who picked up 3 RBI.

Cameron Cooper recorded 3 doubles, 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Ava Nieto doubled and singled and pushed in 3 runs and Ava Rodriguez doubled and hit 2 singles, picked up 2 RBI and scored a run.

Jess Aguirre and Heidi Maytum both walked one time and scored once, Taryn Madlock walked, had an RBI and scored, Taylor Wilson scored once, Riley Partin walked twice, singled and scored and Crissy Van Stavern scored a run.

Rodriguez was the winning pitcher after she went six innings and threw 100 pitches. Rodriguez scattered 4 hits, didn’t give up an earned run, walked one and struck out 5.
