33 BHS football players named to all-district team

The best football season in Boerne ISD history ended with several Greyhound players named all-district by the 14-4A DI coaches.

Speaking of coaches, Boerne’s Che Hendrix was voted the district Coach of the Year, while 33 of his players were named to the first or second team. One of the players, Braden Baize, was a first-team selection in two different positions.

Nine of the Hounds were named in each of the nine superlative categories after Houston Hendrix was named the District MVP, Jaxon Baize was voted co-Offensive MVP, McCoy Bruce was named co-Defensive MVP, Jacob McLaughlin was voted co-Offensive Lineman of the Year, Caleb Hamby was named Defensive Lineman of the Year, Brooks Perez was voted the Offensive Newcomer of the Year, Braden Bays was named co-Defensive Newcomer of the Year, Joe Ballenger was voted co-Special Teams Player of the Year and Hutson Hendrix was named Utility Player of the Year.

First-team offensive selections for the Hounds include running back Adam Hicks, outside receiver Braden Baize, guard Riley Mackrell, guard Carson Williams, tackle Sam Waters, sophomore Logan Schram and TJ Dement was named first-team utility.

Second-team picks for BHS include running back Bode Brown, fullback Weston Richter, tight end Max Migliozzi, inside receiver Carson Coffland, outside receiver Caleb Cloutier, guard Garrett Portis and tackle Nolan Onofre.

Defensively, first-team picks for BHS this year were defensive lineman Luke Mellina, defensive lineman Grady Jackson, defensive end Jeffrey Brown, outside linebacker Will French, corner Koen Wolff, safety Charlie Stahl and return specialist Braden Baize.

Second-team selections were defensive tackle Peyton Randle, defensive end, defensive end Cole Durham, inside linebacker Brendan Levada and utility player Javier Benavidez.

The Hounds finished the year at 15-1 and advanced all the way to the 4A DI state title game before falling to China Spring. 24-21. They set new BISD records for most wins in a season, deepest playoff run and consecutive victories.
