The Davenport girls soccer team gave Boerne High a good test last Friday, but the Lady Hounds passed the test with a 2-1 win.
Boerne High maintains its grip on first place in the 26-4A standings at 8-0. They are 17-2 overall and played Bandera Tuesday and are scheduled to play Great Hearts Northern Oaks this Friday at 6 p.m. in SanAntonio.
Davenport came out early on Friday and took a 1-0 lead over the Lady Greyhounds, but the combination of Madeline Davis and Hannah Bowen helped lead Boerne past the Lady Wolves.
With 14 minutes left in the half, Davis finished on a Bowen assist to tie it up at 1-1.
It stayed that way until the second half when Bowen sent a cross pass that Davis knocked in to give BHS its first lead of the game at 2-1.
