The Boerne High softball was entered in the Dripping Springs Tournament last weekend and finished with a 2-4 mark.
Boerne High is 8-6 overall and visited La Vernia Tuesday. They’ll play in the Seguin Tournament this weekend.
BHS may have lost four games last weekend but three of the losses were by one run and the other was by two runs.
“We grew tremendously,” Greyhounds coach Chester Pettibon said.
Boerne opened with a 7-1 win over Hays on Thursday behind 11 hits, with 6 of them doubles and another that went yard.
Isa Renteria homered in the 5th, doubled, drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Taryn Madlock finished with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored, Ava Nieto doubled and scored, Ava Renteria had an RBI double and Taylor Wilson doubled, drove in a run and scored.
Ava Rodriguez picked up the win in 4 innings and Renteria tossed the final 3 frames. Rodriguez fanned 4 and Renteria struck out 3 and neither game up a walk.
Later on Thursday, Boerne lost to Georgetown, 5-3.
A 3-run fourth inning was the difference in the game for the Eagles.
Taryn Madlock homered in the 4th and also singled, picked up 2 RBI and scored a run, Ava Nieto doubled and scored twice, while Cameron Cooper singled.
Isa Renteria went 4 innings in the circle and gave up 4 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 3 and sat down 3.
Ava Rodriguez tossed an inning and struck out 2.
The Lady Hounds returned Friday and picked up a 12-5 win over Georgetown East View.
Boerne got its bats going early and tallied 4 runs in each of the first three innings, while East View scored all 5 of its runs in the second.
BHS finished with 12 hits in the game after Cameron Cooper hit 2 singles and scored 3 runs, Heidi Maytum doubled and recorded 2 singles, scored 3 runs and pushed in 2 runs, Ava Rodriguez doubled and singled and scored 3 times, Ava Nieto doubled, collected 2 RBI and scored twice.
Taylor Wilson singled, while Jess Aguirre and Riley Partin both scored once.
Ava Rodriguez went 4 innings to pick up the win after she yielded 4 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk and struck out 4.
Later on Friday, the Lady Hounds fell in a one-run game to Lake Travis, 4-3, despite outhitting the Cavs, 9-7.
It was tied 2-2 but 2 runs by the Cavs in the fifth gave them the 4-2 lead. BHS did plate a run in the sixth to close the game but didn’t come any closer.
Ava Renteria had a great day at the plate and recorded a home run and a triple, while she picked up 2 RBI and scored 2 runs.
Heidi Maytum and Ava Nieto both hit 2 singles, while Taylor Wilson singled and scored and Ava Rodriguez and Cameron Cooper both singled.
Isa Renteria went 6 innings in the circle and gave up 7 hits, 3 earned runs, 1 walk and struck out 3.
After suffering a 1-run loss in Friday’s last game, the Boerne girls experienced two more 1-run setbacks on Saturday.
BHS was clipped by Barber Hill, 6-5, after both teams had 6 hits.
Ava Nieto homered in the third and also singled, while scoring 2 runs. Heidi Maytum hit 2 singles and scored twice, Taylor Wilson recorded 2 singles and 3 RBI and Bre Krause crossed home plate once.
Ava Rodriguez went 4.2 innings in the circle, gave up 6 hits, 4 earned runs, fanned 2 and walked 1.
In its final game of the day, the Lady Hounds lost to Dripping Springs, 4-3.
After falling behind 4-0, BHS tried to rally and scored 3 in the sixth but came up short by a run. They outhit the Tigers, 9-5.
Heidi Maytum hit 2 singles, Taylor Wilson doubled and singled, Ava Renteria doubled and singled, scored a run and picked up an RBI, Cameron Cooper singled, Taryn Madlock singled and scored and Isa Renteria singled and scored.
Renteria went six innings in the circle and yielded 5 hits, 3 earned runs, 3 walks and sat down 4.
