The Champion softball team was entered in the NEISD tourney last weekend where they posted a record of 2-2.
Champion is 5-7 overall and hosted Memorial on Tuesday. After the Memorial game, the Chargers are off until next Tuesday when they open district play at Wagner.
At the NEISD tourney, Champion had a rough start and fell to eventual tournament champions Brennan after the Bears beat the Chargers, 14-0 in just three innings.
Brennan went on to defeat O’Connor in the finals.
Champion only had one hit in the game, a single from Emily Young.
Champion also lost to McCollum in a close one, 5-4 before winning its last two games.
The Chargers run-ruled Brackenridge, 17-1, and then closed out the tourney by beating Edison, 5-2.
Against the Bears, Ava Trevino doubled, Madison Hall hit 2 singles, while Finley Rice and Kassidy Kureska both singled.
Rice, Riley Murrish and Alison Kory all scored single runs, while Trevino crossed home plate twice.
Miley Parker went 3 innings and picked up the win in the circle after she gave up just 1 hit and no runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Rice also threw in the game and went 2 innings. Rice fanned 1, yielded 4 hits and 1 earned run and didn’t give up walk.
