Crew Pulliam had quite a night for the Champion boys soccer team after the senior tallied 4 goals on Tuesday to help the Chargers defeat Wagner, 5-3.
With Tuesday’s win, Champion improves to 9-1-2 overall and 6-1-1 in district as the match with the Thunderbirds began second-round action in 26-5A for the Chargers.
Champion played Veterans Memorial Friday and then takes on NB Canyon Tuesday.
Chargers coach Clifton Tierney said Wagner played his team well and added that his players didn’t like giving up 3 goals to the T-Birds, the most they’ve surrendered this season.
“Wagner was a tough opponent; we knew going in that they would challenge us. We were up 4-1 just 12 minutes into the game however, they always found a way to get themselves back into the game,” he said. “Our guys were able to get the result we needed but were not content with the amount of goals given up, they knew that was not us.”
Alfred Castellanos had the team’s other goal, while Bentley McCool finished with 2 assists and Grayson Moran and JP Martinez added 1 assist each.
