SAN ANTONIO – Boerne Champion made it a clean sweep at the recent Region VII-5A Swimming and Diving Championships after both the boys and girls teams captured first place.
The Lady Chargers tallied 413 points for 1st and the Champion boys were also 1st after scoring 393 points. The Chargers also won the combined team standings with 806 points to beat the second- place team by 119 points.
The top 2 earn a spot at state but others can qualify if they are one of the next fast eight times regardless of region. The 5A state meet is this weekend in Austin.
RESULTS A Finals
The Charger 200-yard medley girls team finished 3rd after Audrey Olivo, Madi Neuman, Lilly Schiffelbein and Kenna Chastain combined for a time of 1:57.
The Champion boys won the 200-medley relay after Will Harrison, Griff Orloff, Bexon Harrison and Matthew Jeffery teamed up for 1st with a 1:35.
Cameron Kellogg won the girls 200-yard IM after clocking in at 2:08.29, Kate Deykin was 2nd in 2:10 and Lilly Schiffelbein came in 5th in 2:18. On the boys side, Palmer Guerra finished 8th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.
Cora Skoog placed 2nd in the 50 free with a 24.13 and Regan Garcia was 3rd in 24.19, while Bexon Harrison and William Tolar went 1-2 in the boys 50 free with times of 21.10 and 21.77 and Ian Rutledge placed 8th with a 23.62.
In girls 1-meter diving, Emma Haines finished 3rd with 352.15 points, and on the boys side, Colin Breuer came in 2nd with 445.90 points.
Audrey Olivo clocked in at 1:01 for 4th in the 100 butterfly and Lilly Schiffelbein was 7th in the race with a time of 1:05, while Bexon Harrison turned in a 51.25 for 2nd in the boys 100 fly.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Cora Skoog finished 2nd at 53.04 and Regan Garcia was 3rd at 53.50, while William Tolar and Will Harrison also went 2-3 in the boys 100 free after Tolar turned in a 48.33 and Harrison recorded a 48.44.
Sarah Tolar finished 7th in the 500 free with a time of 5:43 and in the boys race, Roberto Perez Puente finished 5th after clocking in at 5:18.
The girls 200-yard freestyle relay consisting of Kate Deykin, Cameron Kellogg, Regan Garcia and Cora Skoog captured 1st with a time of 1:40.26, while the boys 200free relay of Griff Orloff, Will Harrison, Matthew Jeffery and Bexon Harrison also took 1st with a time of 1:25.
Cameron Kellogg placed 2nd in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.79 and Kate Deykin was 3rd in 1:00 and Audrey Olivo came in 8th at 1:07.
Will Harrison finished 4th in the boys 100 back with a 55.30, while Ethan Roecker and Ian Rutledge were 6-7 with times of 57.68 and 59.12.
Madi Neuman recorded a time of 1:12 for 6th in the 100yard breaststroke, while Griff Orloff won the boys race with a 57.32, Matthew Jeffery was 3rd in 59.37, Palmer Guerra came in 7th in 1:04 and Jake Canales placed 8th at 1:06.
The girls 400-yard relay of Kate Deykin, Cameron Kellogg, Regan Garcia and Cora Skoog won their race with a time of 3:37 and in the boys race, the Charger squad of William Tolar, Palmer Guerra, Matthew Jeffery and Griff Orloff combined for 3rd with a time of 3:16.
