Boerne High hosted the Bandera boys basketball team on Tuesday at Greyhound Gym to close out the regular season in a game that didn’t affect either team in the district standings.
The Greyhounds clinched the district title a week ago, while the Bulldogs are locked in as the fourth-place team in 27-4A.
Boerne High was looking for a perfect district record and achieved the goal after beating the Bulldogs, 79-37.
The Hounds are 27-5 overall and went 12-0 in district and start the playoffs Monday against Kennedy at Northside Gym, 7 p.m.
In Tuesday’s contest, the Greyhounds took control early and tripled up the Bulldogs in the first quarter, 18-6. They also outscored Bandera in the second, 19-9, and held a 37-15 lead at the break.
Bandera had its best scoring quarter of the night in the third with 14 points, but the Hounds tallied 22 and bumped its lead to 59-29. Boerne closed it out by winning the fourth quarter, 20-8, to seal the victory. Barrett Pape led the Hounds with 17 points, Trevor Agarwal and Sam Holland both scored 11 and Houston Hendrix finished with 10 to give BHS four players in double digits.
Sam Waters tallied 7, Koen Wolff, Jeffrey Brown, Case Hoegemeyer and Luke Fox all netted 4, while Nic Hernandez and Colton Hoegemeyer both chipped in with 2 as 11 different players scored in the game.
