The Boerne Champion and Pieper boys soccer teams were both undefeated in district play entering last Friday’s match at Charger Field and both remained unbeaten in 26-5A after they played to a draw.
Champion held a 2-0 lead at halftime, but the Warriors rallied for two second-half goals to tie it up at 2-2 and that’s where it ended.
It’s the first tie in league play for both and leaves them tied at 4-0-1 in the district standings as well. The Chargers are also still undefeated this year and stand at 7-0-2 overall. They visited Smithson Valley Tuesday and host Seguin on Friday.
In last Friday’s match, the Champion goals were scored by Crew Pulliam and Liam Willis, while Pulliam had one of the assists.
Chargers coach Clifton Tierney singled out several players for their performances on Friday and said the team kind of feels like they let one get away.
“The guys were disappointed about the 2-0 lead disappearing; however it was a result, just not the result we wanted,” he said. “Our goalkeeper Tanner Perkins came up huge during the game, without him we would have been walking out of there very upset. Our backline of Scott Grover, Bentley McCool, Matthew Duran, Ben Matamoros and Seth Roberts also did a great job stopping a very talented team.”
