The Boerne Champion football team had several players named to one of the All-District 12-5A DI teams.
There were seven on defense and six on offense for the Chargers that were in a tough district and finished the year 4-6 overall and 2-5 in league play.
Champion didn’t make the playoffs in Keith Kaiser’s final season as the head coach, but they did have 13 players make all-district.
Long-time assistant Blane Ellis was named Kaiser’s successor and is now running the program.
On the defensive side of the ball, junior Sawyer Bolli and junior Evan Kuhl were both named first-team safety, while junior Gage Goldberg was a second-team linebacker.
There were also four Charger defenders named honorable mention, all seniors. Senior defensive lineman Robin Vargas, senior linebacker Jared Wingo, senior linebacker Hayden Niemeyer and senior cornerback Andrew Simmons all made the HM list.
For the offense, one Champion player made the first team after junior Kieran Garris was named a first-team offensive lineman, while senior Kannon Brooks was voted to the second team as a wide receiver.
Four other Charger offensive players made the honorable mention squad. Senior running back Colin Ryan, junior offensive lineman Riley Wampler, junior offensive lineman Brady Wilson and junior quarterback Jordan Ballin landed on the HM offensive team.
