Boerne High girls take down Texans for season sweep, 50-35

The Boerne High girls basketball team was on the road Friday at Wimberley and while the Texans played the Lady Hounds tougher than in their first-round district meeting, the BHS girls still won by 15 points.

Boerne claimed the 50-35 victory and improved to 27-1 overall and 9-0 in district. They play Navarro on Thursday and visit Canyon Lake Friday.

In their first-round meeting, Boerne won by 63 points and last Friday it was only by 15, but as the old saying goes, “it’s about how, not how many.”

It was only a one-point game at the half with BHS ahead 20-19, but the Lady Hounds had a solid third quarter and outscored the Texans, 19-5, and that was the difference in the game because in the fourth quarter, both teams tallied 11.

BHS outscored the Texans in the third by 14 and won the game by 15.

Jamie Ruede led the team with 18 points, while Abby Smith and Averi Aaron both finished with 11. Mickena Randle and Chloe Donnell both scored 3 and Jenna Ruede and Liz Fox both chipped in with 2.

Averi also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 3 assists, while Jenna Ruede also had 3 assists and came up with 3 steals.
