Chargers get back to winning ways

The Boerne Champion boys basketball team got back to its winning ways Tuesday night after the Chargers picked up a road win at New Braunfels Canyon.

Prior to Tuesday, the Chargers had dropped two in a row, but they rebounded against the Cougars with a 55-39 victory.

Tuesday’s win closes out the first round of district play for the Chargers team that stands at 24-3 overall and 6-2 in district. They are currently in third place with six games left, counting Friday’s game at Kerrville Tivy.

Champion had three players finish in double digits and almost had a fourth. Charlie Georgelos led the team with 15 points, Dakarai Hodge finished with 14, Quinn Grable scored 12 and Braden Baum scored 9.

Georgelos was hot from the outside and knocked down four 3-pointers and made it a double-double with 11 rebounds. Grable also shot it well and drained three 3s and finished with 6 assists.

Mason Wyatt added 3 points and 4 assists, while Jackson Marshall had 2 points.
