Once the girls basketball game between Boerne High and Bandera tipped off Friday night, it became apparent from the start that the Greyhounds were going to cruise to an easy win.

After a while, the only question remaining was if the Lady Bulldogs were even going to score in the game.

Well, they didn’t in the first half as the Lady Hounds rolled to a 52-0 lead at the halftime break. Bandera finally got on the board in the second half with 7 points, 5 in the third and 2 more in the fourth, as the Boerne girls recorded the 93-7 victory.

BHS improved to 26-1 overall and 8-0 in district. They were off Tuesday and visit Wimberley on Friday.

In Friday’s mismatch of a district game, Boerne was up 10 in the first three minutes as Jamie Ruede heated up from the outside and drained a couple of 3-pointers.

Ruede hit three more 3s in the opening stanza for five in the quarter to help spot BHS to a 24-0 lead.

Chloe Donnell converted a bucket and a free throw and then sank a pair of foul shots with 27 seconds left in the first for the 29-0 lead after one.

Abby Smith tallied the first 4 points of the second and it was 33-0 with 5:46 left before the break.

Ruede, Savannah Salinas, Averi Aaron, Smith and Taegan King all scored in the final six minutes of the quarter for the 49-0 lead with a minute until intermission. Liz Fox then knocked in a 3-poniter to give Boerne the 52-0 halftime lead.

The Lady Greyhounds won the third quarter, 25-5, and built a 77-5 lead. They closed it out in the final period by outscoring the Lady Bulldogs, 16-2.

Boerne recorded a dozen 3-pointers in the game on 12 of 22 shooting for 54.5 percent from beyond the arch. They were 56 percent from the 2-point area and went 11 for 15 at the freethrow line for 73 percent.
