The Boerne High boys soccer team made the long drive down to the Rio Grande Valley and played in the Hidalgo Early College Tournament last weekend.
BHS played nine matches in three days but they were shortened matches with two 20-minute halves for a total of 40 minutes for each match.
The Greyhounds posted a record of 5-2-2 overall at the tournament and finished in second place. Boerne High stands at 10-3-2 overall. They open district action on Friday against Fredericksburg.
At the tourney, Boerne beat Roma 3-0 and tied Rio Grande City 0-0 last Thursday.
On Friday, the Greyhounds returned and edged Harlingen 1-0, tied Hidalgo Early College 0-0 and then beat Brownsville Rivera, 1-0.
On the last day of the tournament on Saturday, the Greyhounds played four matches and won two and lost two matches.
The Hounds beat Vanguard Academy Mozart – Alamo, 6-0, lost to Los Fresnos 1-0, beat Edinburg Economedes, 2-1 and then lost to Hidalgo Early College, 3-0. Before that, the Greyhounds shutout New Braunfels 2-0 on Tuesday in a road match in New Braunfels.
