The Boerne Champion girls faced some tough opponents at last weekend’s Governor’s Cup Soccer Tournament in Georgetown.
Champion played three matches and dropped all three contests as the Lady Chargers had a hard time getting its offense going.
Champion is 2-5 overall and closed out the non-district portion of its schedule. They will host Wagner on Friday to kick off 26-5A action.
The Lady Chargers only scored one goal in its three matches last weekend. Champion opened the tourney and lost to Coppell, 5-0. The Chargers only had three shots, with only one on goal.
Up next, the Champion girls faced Lucas Lovejoy and lost 5-1. The Lady Chargers did have 7 shots, with 3 on goal.
Addison Huber tallied the team’s only goal of the match and of the tournament on the assist from Carysyn Bradley.
In its final match of the tourney on Saturday, Champion played Georgetown close but lost 1-0.
The Lady Chargers did have 4 shots, with 2 on goal but didn’t convert. Georgetown scored its only goal in the second half for the win.
