It had been a while since the Alamo Heights boys soccer team had won at Charger Field but the Mules were able to snap that losing streak on Friday when they visited Boerne.

Alamo Heights defeated Champion, 2-1, for its first victory in Boerne since the 2016 season. The Chargers slipped to 1-2 in district and 2-3-2 overall. Champion visits Veterans Memorial on Tuesday.

The Mules scored first but the Chargers tied it up with the equalizer in the first half on a Hayden Landis goal on the assist from Calvin Perryman.

Alamo Heights answered with the go-ahead goal to make it 2-1 and then held off the Chargers for the entire second half.

The Mules last won in Boerne at Charger Field during the 2016 season when they defeated Champion 3-0. Every trip since then had resulted in a Chargers win until Friday, although the teams were in different districts for two of those years and didn’t play, but it did keep the streak intact.

Against Dripping Springs last Tuesday, Matthew Magaw tallied the team’s only goal on the assist from Gabe Hernandez.
