The Comfort girls basketball team dropped its last two district games held last week. The Deer were tripped up by Blanco on Tuesday and by district front-runner Lago Vista on Friday.
Even though the Deer lost Friday, they still clinched a playoff spot since Ingram lost to Llano. Comfort can finish as high as the No. 3 seed. They have two games left and host Llano on Friday before visiting Ingram the following week. Comfort is off Tuesday since IDEA Montopolis dropped out of the league.
Vs. Lago Vista
The Lady Vikings won Friday’s contest, 56-37.
Comfort hit in double digits in three of the four quarters but Lago was in double figures all four periods and outscored the Deer in every stanza.
Ashlynn Rodriguez finished with 13 points, Kallie Doss scored 8, Meghan Davis netted 6, Daniela Hernandez had 4, while Madalynn Rodriguez and Erin Alt both chipped in with 3.
Davis grabbed 8 rebounds, Alt had 6 boards, Doss came up with 4 steals and Hernandez dished out 2 assists.
Vs. Blanco
Comfort hosted Blanco last Tuesday and closed the gap with the Lady Panthers but still came up short by a point, 38-37 win.
The last time they played, Blanco won by 18 points after they hit 11 3-pointers. Last Tuesday’s contest came down to some free throws late in the game so the Deer closed the gap.
Ashlynn Rodriguez led Comfort with 13 points, Katie Haffner added 8, Daniela Hernandez scored 7, Kallie Doss netted 4, Meghan Davis finished with 3 and Katelyn Cook had 2.
Davis snagged 6 rebounds, Hernandez had 5 boards, Cook dished out 5 assists and Doss recorded 6 steals and 3 assists.
