Q: I’ve heard some things about foster care and adoption, and I’m curious – but hesitant because our family is already so busy. Somebody told me that your organization strongly supports foster adoption. Why do you think we should get involved?

Long before the days of Mario, Luigi and Donkey Kong, youngsters harkened to the likes of Fibber McGee and Molly, Dick Tracy and the Lone Ranger. Such were the stuff of the “Golden Age of Radio,” the era spanning from the 1930s through the 1950s.

We will be having a special city council meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 16, regarding a potential quality of life bond issue that may be placed on the November ballot.

Q: I’m in my late 40s and feeling burned out in my job. But whenever I think about changing career paths, I feel overwhelmed and mentally paralyzed. Do you think I should just ride it out in my current field and wait for retirement?

The Texas Department of State Health Services has received and distributed 14,780 doses of the monkey pox vaccine to local health departments and DSHS regional offices. Another 27,000 doses could be made available by the Strategic National Stockpile.

Throughout the year, the Patrick Heath Public Library has had great fun celebrating our 70th anniversary with a variety of fun activities for people of all ages. We’ve offered food history, 1950s music trivia, an afterschool teen party, played bridge and bingo, twisted and shouted to some great live music and displayed photos of Boerne residents in the ‘50s.
