Q: I grew up in a very dysfunctional home. My parents hurt me in many ways. But now they’re aging and losing the ability to look after themselves. Given the past, I’m not sure how I feel about caring for them. What’s my obligation here?

Geneva senior receives DAR Good Citizen award

Geneva School of Boerne Class of 2022 graduate Nicolas Siller received the Good Citizen Award from the George R. Kendall Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. He was selected for his qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism and received a $1,000 scholarship as well as a Good Citizen pin.

Academy graduates

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy ended earlier this month with a graduation dinner. The academy introduces individuals to the KCSO and offers insight on how it conducts business and why. The purpose of the academy is to enhance, through education and hands-on participation, the positive relationship between the office and the community. It is designed to give participants a better understanding of the mission and operations of its agencies to gain an appreciation of the current challenges facing law enforcement. Topics covered included patrol procedures, criminal investigation, jail operations, polygraph examinations, Justice of the Peace duties, district attorney operations, animal control, narcotics and a K9 demonstration, civilian response to an active shooter and scenario-based training. 2 BISD elementaries named national showcase schools

The Boerne Independent School District announced that Curington Elementary and Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary schools again have been selected by The Flippen Group as Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools for the 2021-22 academic year. Curington and Fair Oaks are two of just 376 schools in the United States to receive the recognition.

The Kendall County Fair Association Inc. recently announced the winners of the Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall Scholarship Program for 2022. The Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall was established in 2008 when the association became an IRS designated 501(c)3 corporations and the exhibit hall became a program to comply with the mission and vision statements of the association.
