Boerne Champion swept Kerrville Tivy Tuesday night on the road to close out 26-5A volleyball action.

The Lady Chargers won, 27-25, 25-22, 25-21 and improved to 34-7 overall.

Champion’s win on Tuesday, coupled with Boerne High’s victory over New Braunfels on the same night, resulted in the Lady Chargers finishing second in 26-5A.

Pieper won the league at 14-2, Champion was second at 13-3, New Braunfels finished third at 12-4 and Smithson Valley took fourth at 11-5 and those four will represent 26-5A in the playoffs.

Kerrville Tivy (9-7), Boerne (7-9), Alamo Heights (4-12), Veterans Memorial (2-14) and Wagner (16-0) rounded out the district.

Champion finishing second in district didn’t change anything as far as playoffs. The Chargers and Pieper are going small school or to the DII bracket, while New Braunfels and Smithson Valley will go big school or to the DI bracket.

Champion opens the postseason on election night Tuesday, Nov. 5, against Cedar Park at Lehman High School, 6:30 p.m. For more on that match, see the Star.

Cassidy Breuer paced the Chargers with 12 kills Tuesday and Ella Coleman added 9 kills, while Brielle Boothe finished with 8 kills and 2 aces.

Briley Wolff tallied 5 blocks, Breuer added 4 blocks, Coleman and Boothe came up with 11 digs each and Samantha Calderon recorded 10 digs, while Azteca Crawford dished out 35 assists.
