Champion, BHS tennis teams breeze through first two rounds, meet in third round Tuesday

The Boerne ISD tennis teams will meet in the third round of the 5A playoffs after they both won their first two matches this week.

Champion and Boerne High face off Tuesday at Northside’s Anne Marie Tennis Center, 10 a.m., after they both breezed through the first two rounds.

The Chargers opened their postseason Monday against Leander in San Marcos and won 11-6.

Monday’s win put Champion back in action Thursday against John Jay in the second round where they tamed the Mustangs at Northside, 10-0, to stand at 12-5 overall.

The Greyhounds began their playoffs Tuesday, also in San Marcos, against Liberty Hill, and pounced on the Panthers, 10-2.

That win advanced Boerne High to the second round Thursday morning were they faced Southwest Legacy and toppled the Titans, 17-0, at Northside, to stand at 16-3 overall.

BHS and Champion met in a district match earlier this year and the Chargers won it 10-8.
