Both the Boerne Champion and Boerne High water polo teams wrapped up district play Saturday at the Northside Aquatics Center.
The Chargers played matches against Clark and Marshall, while the Greyhounds tangled with Health Careers in a single match.
Champion moves on to the postseason but the Lady Chargers still have to decide seeding with Brandeis, while the Champion boys wrapped up the district title a few matches back.
The Lady Chargers and Lady Broncos are tied atop the district standings at 9-1 and beat each other, so neither has the head-to-head tiebreaker.
They will break the tie Saturday at Northside, 10:30 a.m. Saturday’s winner takes the No 1 seed heading into the playoffs and the loser gets the No. 2 seed.
Boerne Champion
The Chargers made it a clean sweep Saturday as the boys and girls teams combined for four wins.
The Champion boys end the year at 19-4 overall and 10-0 in district. They beat Clark 23-12 and Marshall 17-9.
Bexon Harrison had 9 goals against the Cougars and 2 vs. Marshall.
The Lady Chargers are 18-5 overall and 9-1 in district after beating Clark, 13-9, and defeated Marshall, 18-5.
Ana Metz tallied 7 goals vs. Marshall and had 6 goals against Clark.
Boerne High
The Greyhounds closed out the regular season on Saturday. It was their first year playing the sport and there were growing pains but head coach Brandon Cheves said they improved with each match.
The Lady Hounds fell to Health Careers on Saturday, 12-2, and before that, they played Clark last Thursday at the Boerne city pool and lost 9-0.
The BHS girls ends the year at 0-10 in district and 0-16 overall.
The BHS boys lost to Clark last Thursday in Boerne, 16-6, and then dropped Saturday’s match to Health Careers.
Boerne finishes its season at 2-8 in district and 2-14 overall. They beat Marshall this year for the first two wins in program history.
