The Boerne Champion volleyball team cruised to a three-set victory Tuesday night over the visiting Thunderbirds from Wagner.
Champion won the match, 25-15, 25-13, 25-18, and stands at 26-6 overall and 5-2 in district. The Lady Chargers closed out the first round of 26-5A action Friday against Kerrville Tivy.
Champion and New Braunfels are both 5-2 in district as they closed out the first round Friday, but the Unicorns took their meeting so they are in second and the Chargers are in third heading into Friday.
In Tuesday’s match, Ella Coleman had the night off, but there were still some good numbers turned in by members of the team.
Briley Wolff led the team in kills with 10, Cassidy Breuer added 9 kills and Brielle Boothe recorded 8 kills.
Boothe served up 5 aces, Breuer and Azteca Crawford both dropped in 2 aces, while Wolff and Mallory Woods both came up with 2 blocks.
Crawford tallied 10 digs and 23 assists, Boothe finished with 9 digs, while Breuer and Samantha Calderon chipped in with 6 digs each and Addison Menden had 2 digs.
Kamryn Edwards added 7 assists and Calderon finished with 4 assists.
