Chargers drop second district volleyball match in a row

After winning their first four district volleyball matches, the Lady Chargers have dropped their last two in 26-5A.

Champion was on the road last Friday and fell to the Unicorns of New Braunfels, 25-16, 17-25, 25-22, 25-13. Before that, they also lost in four sets to Pieper, with both losses on the road.

The Chargers are 25-6 overall and 4-2 in district. They looked to get back on track Tuesday when they hosted Wagner.

Champion closes out the week with another home match Friday, this time against Kerrville Tivy to end the first round of district.

In last Friday’s match, Ella Coleman led the Chargers in kills and finished with 13 of them, Brielle Boothe added 7 kills and Briley Wolff had 5 kills.

Coleman dropped in 3 aces, while Cassidy Breuer and Samantha Calderon recorded 2 aces apiece. Coleman, Breuer and Wolff came up with 1 block each, while Boothe and Coleman both tallied 13 digs and Azteca Crawford registered 32 assists.

Boerne High

The Lady Greyhounds were off Friday and resume district play this week with a couple of tough ones.

Boerne High hosted district leader Pieper (7-0 in district) Tuesday and visits New Braunfels (4-2) on Friday to close out the first round of district.

Boerne is 3-3 in district and 18-8 overall.
