The next school year is basically here and at least one sport – tennis – has started playing regular-season matches.
Both the Charger and Greyhound tennis teams were in action Friday to kick off their 2024 fall seasons.
Champion hosted Clark Friday morning at the BMSS courts, while the Greyhounds welcomed Friendswood at the BHS courts.
It was the opposite Friday afternoon as Clark went to Boerne High and Friendswood traveled to BMSS to take on Champion. (Friendswood and Clark played against each other Saturday morning at Boerne High.)
It looks like Champion will play its fall season at BMSS because of problems with the surface at the Charger courts.
Water polo
The Charger water polo team is at Northside for a couple of scrimmages Saturday morning, while the Greyhounds will also be at Northside for a couple of scrimmages, all on Saturday morning.
Volleyball
Champion was at Davenport Friday for a scrimmage and will host several teams Saturday, while BHS visited Judson Friday and hosts a scrimmage Saturday as well.
Comfort hosted a scrimmage Friday and visited Sabinal Saturday for another scrimmage.

The Lady Chargers open the regular season Tuesday and host Southwest, 6:30 p.m., while Boerne High begins the regular season Tuesday on the road against Stevens, 7:15 p.m.
Comfort opens their season at the Hondo Tournament this coming weekend and Geneva is at home Tuesday vs. Providence, 7 p.m.

Several area teams will open their 2024 seasons next weekend.
Champion, Boerne High and Comfort are all scheduled to run at the Tivy Antler Rust Buster in Kerrville.
