Comfort High closed out the first round of district baseball with a victory at Llano on Monday, 10-2.

The Bobcats are 3-2 through Round 1 (14-5 overall) and opened the second round Friday at Florence, a team they run ruled in the first round.

In Monday’s game, Comfort took an early 2-0 lead with a couple of runs in the first, but Llano answered with a single run in the bottom of the second and it was 2-1 after two innings.

It stayed that way until the fifth when the Bobcats pulled away with 4 runs in the fourth to go with 2 in the sixth and 2 more in the seventh for the 10-1 lead.

Llano had a tall task in the bottom of the seventh to try and tie or win it and scored one run but that’s as close as they came.

Comfort finished with 12 hits in the game, including a triple from Mason West, who also singled, walked twice and scored 3 runs, while Brooks Davis scored 3 times and drove in a run.

Mason Matt doubled and singled, picked up 2 RBI and scored once, Micah Nye knocked out 2 singles and collected 3 RBI, Luke Bohnert singled and scored, Tucker Rust banged out 3 singles, Noah Bohnert doubled and singled and pushed in 2 runs, while Cade Woerner picked up an RBI.

Rust earned the win from the circle on 97 pitches. He went all 7 innings and gave up 2 hits, 1 earned run, 4 walks and struck out 6.
