The varsity soccer teams from Boerne Champion tangled with Veterans Memorial Tuesday as they continued second-round district action.
The two Charger squads were cutting it close but they won by the same score of 2-1 over the Patriots to both pick up district wins.
Varsity Boys
The Chargers won their third straight match in District 26-5A after they defeated the Patriots, 2-1.
Champion is 10-2-2 overall and bumped its district record to 5-2-2.
The Chargers played New Braunfels Canyon Friday and then tangled with Tivy Tuesday.
Matthew Duran and Liam Willis both scored goals for the Chargers in Tuesday’s win.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Chargers also edged Veterans Memorial, 2-1.
Champion improved to 8-1 in district and 9-6 overall. They played New Braunfels Canyon Friday for first place in 26-5A. NB Canyon is the only team to beat the Chargers so far in district play, although Champion is ahead in the league standing with an 8-1 mark, while the Cougarettes are 7-1-1.
Jayme Harrell and Mack Arendall both knocked in goals for the Lady Chargers in Tuesday’s match.
