The UIL baseball season kicked off this week as three Kendall Country teams began play, while the baseball season has been going for a couple of weeks for Geneva School of Boerne, a TAPPS team.
Both the Boerne ISD teams — the Chargers and the Greyhounds — opened their 2024 seasons Monday.
Champion was at home to host Steele and claimed a 10-2 win. They will play in the Northside Tournament this weekend.
The Chargers played in the state tournament last year and look to make a return trip to state since they return a good nucleus.
The Greyhounds were home Monday to host East Central and won, 11-1. They will also play in the Northside Tournament this weekend.
BHS has a new coach in Geoff Curtin, who took over for Bill Merrell.
Comfort was at home Monday to host Hamilton and won, 13-6. The Bobcats are scheduled to play in the Three Rivers Tournament this coming weekend.
The Bobcats also have a new coach in Bryan Bishop, who used to coach with BISD and was Merrell’s rell’s longtime assistant.
The Geneva baseball hb li team has been playing for two weeks now and recently played in the TMI — Tournament last weekend.
ld h The Eagles also had a deep run last year played at the TAPPS state tournament.
