The Geneva School of Boerne varsity basketball teams both picked up road wins last Friday and wrapped up the No. 1 seeds heading into their district tournaments.
The teams in Geneva’s district play one round and then have a district tournament to determine which squads advance to the postseason.
Eight teams make the district tournament and the top five advance to the TAPPS playoffs.
By virtue of being No. 1 seeds, both Eagles teams are hosting all the way through the tourney that started Tuesday.
The Geneva boys hosted Corpus Christi John Paul II Tuesday and the girls took on Schertz John Paul II.
Geneva girls
The Eagles defeated Hill Country Christian last Friday, 59-41, to end the district play at 8-0. They improved to 23-3 overall.
In last Friday’s game, Maegan Riebel knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 25 points to lead the Eagles. Riebel made it a double-double with 10 rebounds, while she almost had a triple-double after she also came up with 8 steals and dished out 5 assists.
Madeline Egbert, Morgan Howard and Kyra Petty all finished with 9 points apiece, while Bethany DeLuna and Hailey Kirchner scored 2 points each.
Petty also recorded 5 assists and had 3 steals to go with her 9 points.
Geneva boys
The Geneva boys picked up a road win Friday at Hill Country Christian, 71-61.
Geneva is 20-6 overall and 7-1 in league play.
In last Friday’s game, Jack Taylor and Wyatt Bruss paced the team with 20 points each, Colton Lutz dropped in 13 to make it three in double figures, while Griffin Freiling added 9 points.
