Dilley rallies to defeat Bobcats, 26-20
Dilley snapped Comfort’s four-game winning streak as the Wolves defeated the Bobcats Friday night in Comfort, 26-20.
The Bobcats slip to 4-4 overall and suffer their first district loss to stand at 3-1 in league play. Things don’t get any easier for Comfort because they travel to face district favorite Poth Friday.
Comfort owned the first quarter Friday but Dilley owned the second, as the Wolves took a 20-14 lead into halftime.
The Bobcats scored two TDs in the opening period, both on short runs of 1-yard, one by Gio Lopez and the other by Micah Nye.
Julio Lopez- Torres converted both extra points and Comfort was leading 14-0, but the Wolves fired back with three touchdowns in the second quarter.
Dilley recorded touchdown runs of 5, 49 and 6 yards, the last one coming with less than a minute before the break for 20 second- quarter points and a 20-14 advantage.
The Wolves made it 26 straight points after they tallied an 8-yard touchdown run to end the third quarter. Dilley missed the extra point but they still held a 26-14 lead.
Comfort tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter and the defense didn’t allow any points, while the Bobcats offense found the end zone with 2:40 left in the game when Nye punched it in from the 1-yard line. That made it 26-20 but that’s as close the Comfort would come.
Dilley was able to run out the clock and hold on for the 6-point win.
