Boerne beats Battlin’ Billies in

Boerne High won a heart-stopper in 27-4A volleyball Friday when the Lady Hounds hosted Fredericksburg.
The Battlin’ Billies came out strong and took the first set 25-10. Fred won the second game, 25-22, to take a 2-0 match lead, but Boerne High was able to answer by taking three straight must-win games to claim the five-set victory.
Boerne won Friday’s match at Greyhound Gym, 10-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-12.
BHS is 19-14 overall and ended the first round of district at 3-3 and stands in fourth place, just ahead of the Battlin’ Billies team that is 2-4.
Only the top four in each district advance to the postseason. BHS began second-round action in District 27-4A Tuesday at home against Davenport and then they’ll visit Bandera Friday.
A lot of Boerne players turned in solid numbers on Friday. Ava Rocchio finished with 15 kills, 3 blocks and 2 digs, Paige Stegall added 10 kills, 5 blocks, 1 assist and 2 digs and Aubree Stegall tallied 12 kills, 1.5 blocks, 1 assist and 6 digs.
Caylynn Ramos recorded 25 assists and 17 digs, Adyson Hudson came up with 2 aces and 16 digs, while Morgan Naylor recorded 10 assists, 7 digs and 2 kills.
Holly Reeder chipped in with 8 aces, 2 assists and 10 digs and Presley Mullins served up 8 aces to go with 2 assists and 10 digs, while Kinsley Sawyer led the team in digs with 21.
