Best-selling author Gibbs visits Boerne Book Festival
Teddy Fitzroy is a precocious ‘tween who resides with his parents at FunJungle, the world’s largest zoo. A smart boy with too much time on his hands, his antics include arming the chimpanzees with water balloons in an attempt to give them harmless items to throw at visitors.
Teddy is the creation of bestselling children’s book author Stuart Gibbs, from the “FunJungle” series set in the Texas Hill Country.
In each book, beginning with “Belly Up,” Teddy is challenged with solving a mystery at the zoo.
The “FunJungle” series is just one of the popular series written by Gibbs. Another is “Spy School,” featuring a teenage spy-in-training named Ben Ripley. There are a total of six series written by the author, and all of the books are fast-paced, full of adventure, and fun.
Kids and parents will have the chance to meet the author at the Boerne Book Festival on Saturday, October 7 at Main Plaza. He’ll be appearing at 10:30 a.m. followed by a book signing.
Gibbs’ visit to the festival would not be possible without the generous support of The Friends of the Boerne Public Library. We thank them and our many other wonderful sponsors.
Another program at the festival that will appeal to adults is the “Women and War Stories” panel discussion. Facilitated by Patricia Portales, this panel will feature authors Cindy Bonner and Jo-Ann Power.
The panel will discuss the current popularity of historical fiction set during the world wars. Bonner, who resides in Kerrville, is the author of many literary novels including her latest “For Love and Glory,” set during World War II.
Power is a long-time resident of Boerne, and her well-researched novel “Heroic Measures” is set during World War I, revolving around the nurses that went off to war during that time. This panel discussion is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Main Plaza that day.
Please take a look at our programs, vendors, authors, and featured books that will all be on hand at the 2023 Boerne Book Festival by going to our website www.boernebookfest.com.
You can also pick up a schedule and map at the library. The festival is free and open to everyone. We hope to see you there.
