• Farmers Market at Herff Farm, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Buy products directly from local growers, ranchers, and crafters on a historic German farmstead in the Texas Hill Country. • Art in Conservation: Watercolor Class, at Herff Farm, 10 a.m. to noon. Join artist Rebecca Burritt in watercolor class to learn to paint with the practice of the basic techniques; glazing, wet-in-wet, dry brush and more. • Mushroom Cultivation Workshop, Herff Farm 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The class is for anyone curious about the fascinating world of fungi and interested in cultivating mushrooms as a skill. No prior knowledge of mycology is required. Louis will teach an easy-tofollow process, and students will receive a cultivation kit to take home. $70 for non-members, $60 for members. • The GVTC Foundation Game Day 5K, at Knibbe Ranch in Spring Branch, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wear you team gear and be ready to have fun, food, drinks, music and outdoor games at the Knibbe Ranch after the completion of the 5K. • Half Baked, at Boerne Community Theatre, 907 E. Blanco Road, from 7:30 p.m.-10 p.m. ‘Half Baked’ follows the journey of the Allen brothers and their wives as they embark on their brilliant retirement plan, only to encounter a series of hilarious shenanigans along the way. • Old Jail Museum Tours, The Old Jail Museum, 208 E. San Antonio Ave., from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tour the Old Jail Museum and enjoy its unique exhibits. Tickets are $5 for adults; children under 10, veterans, and law enforcement are free.

• Kuhlmann-King Museum Tours, Kuhlmann- King Historical Complex, 402 E. Blanco Road, noon to 3 p.m. Take a tour around the Kuhlmann- King property to step back in time.

• Bluegrass Jam at The AgriCultural Museum, 102 City Park Road, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Every second and fourth Saturdays of the month, bring an instrument and play along, or just come to listen to the free Bluegrass Jam at The AgriCultural! (Formerly the Agricultural Heritage Museum).

• National Dog Day Yappy Hour, Dog and Pony Grill, 3-6 p.m. National Dog Day is fast approaching and Dog and Pony is planning the perfect event to celebrate. Join them for a Yappy Hour featuring food specials (for pups and humans), vendors, and more.

• Women’s Equality Day Market, Free Roam Brewing Company, 325 S. Main St., 4-8 p.m. The inaugural Women’s Equality Day Market at Free Roam will be held in the beer garden. The event features musical performances, beer, food trucks, and a diverse array of vendors led by women entrepreneurs.

• “Hill Country’s Got Talent” talent show auditions, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Boerne Community Theater, 907 E. Blanco Road. BCT annual talent show and fundraiser is now hosting auditions for all ages and all skills. From dancers to singers, gymnasts to musicians, comics to mimes, athletes to performers -- all are welcome. Two categories, 17-and-under, and 18-and-over. Cash prize awards in both categories: $500 for first, $250 for second, and $100 for third.

• Boerne Radio Classics with Miss Constance, Boerne Radio (KBRN FM 103.9 and AM 1500), 7:45 a.m. to 8 a.m. Boerne Radio brings back the radio serials of the past as they share a part of a children’s classic book. Humor, drama, and suspense as each week you await the next installment.

• The Bookshop Under the Windmill, next to Patrick Heath Public Library, 451 N. Main St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Find some great books, magazines, and movies, all at great prices. The Bookshop is run by the Friends of the Boerne Public Library. Funds raised through the shop go back to the PHPL.

• Half Baked, Boerne Community Theatre, 2-5 p.m. ‘Half Baked’ follows the uproarious journey of the Allen brothers and their wives as they embark on their brilliant retirement plan, only to encounter a series of hilarious shenanigans along the way. Tickets available at boernetheatre.org.

• Rick Cavender Band at The RoundUp Outdoor, 531 FM 3351, from 6-9 p.m. This professional six-piece group has opened and performed with the hottest stars in the music scene. In 2010 the readers of San Antonio Magazine rated the Rick Cavender Band, “Best Band in San Antonio.”

• Open auditions for “Hill Country’s Got Talent” from 1-5 p.m. at the Boerne Community Theater. BCT’s annual talent show and fundraiser is for all ages and all skills, from dancers to singers, gymnasts to musicians, comics to mimes, athletes to performers. • Ribbon-cutting for The Kendall County Fair Association, The Kendall County Fairgrounds, 11:30 a.m. to noon. Kick up your heels with the 117th annual Kendall County Fair. The ribbon-cutting will kick off the fair, which runs Sept. 1-3, A queen’s pageant, rodeo, bull riding extreme, livestock show, and vendors, the fair offers something for everyone.

• Ribbon-cutting for Jena Craig Photography, 41109 I-10, suite D, from 1:30-2 p.m. Join a ribbon-cutting celebrating Jena Craig Photography’s nine-year anniversary. Jena Craig Photography specializes in newborn, children and family portraits.

• Cibolo Summer Series: August Hikes, at Herff Farm, 33 Herff Road, from 9:3011 a.m. Led by Cibolo land steward and Woodland master David Touchon, the easy, investigative, and enriching walks will explore a different topic/niche that connects the Hill Country landscape. $10 to attend. Intended for 18 years and older.

• SEPTEMBER 1

• The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce will be closed Friday, Sept. 1 in observance of Kendall County Fair Day, as proclaimed by Kendall County Judge Shane Stolarczyk. The chamber will reopen at 9 a.m. Sept. 5.

• Ribbon-cutting for Hey Love, 11:30 a.m.-noon. Join a ribbon-cutting celebrating Dang Sassy’s official name change to Hey Love. Hey Love is officially ready to celebrate its new name and new look, as well as the one-year anniversary under its new ownership. Hey Love carries all the popular brands, including an entire game day line.

• 117th annual Kendall County Fair opens at 5 p.m. at Herff Park. The county fair features“Family Fun”including an exhibit hall, livestock show, arts and crafts, carnival, entertainment(daily-and-nightly),rodeo, bull riding, contests, food and drink, and daily Activities for adults and kids.

• Active Movement: Qigong, PHPL community room 10-11 a.m. Join LaVada Smith as she guides attendees through the ancient meditative, easy movement practice of Qigong. Dress comfortably; no special equipment or mats needed. The program is part of the Silver Library Initiative.

• First Friday Yoga, 6-7 p.m. in the PHPL community room. Join first Friday in the community room for yoga facilitated by Janeen Castillo. Bring a yoga mat, if you don’t have one, there should be some available to use.

• Cultivate: Earth Friendly Gardening and Landscaping sessions, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Bexar County Master Gardeners (BCMG) is hosting its free online biannual gardening workshops ranging from watering practices to plant selection and maintenance. These free classes are led by experts from Texas AgriLife Extension and BCMG. Attendees will be able to implement up-to-date recommendations in their fall landscapes and ask questions of the presenters. Sign-up is available at bexarmg.org.

• Second Annual Arts and Crafts Show, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Jackson Road in Kerrville, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 9. The show will be held indoors. A car show will also be held on Saturday, in the parking lot during the craft show. For details call the church at 830-895-0100.
