BISD
Boerne ISD’s role of educating our students doesn’t stop in the classroom. Furthermore, one of our objectives is to help educate our parents and community members as well.
With this in mind, we are proud to host the Parent and Community Education Speaker Series once again, which will feature informational sessions with guest speakers to discuss issues and potential dangers to our students.
BISD hosted five speaker series events last school year with topics ranging from “One Pill Can Kill: the dangers of Fentanyl,” to “Cyber Danger,” and more. Each topic saw not only BISD students, parents, and staff in attendance, but community members as well.
Building on the success of last year, the first event in the 2023-24 speaker series will take place from 6-7 p.m. On Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Champion High School auditorium, and will feature the topic, “Helping Kids Cope.”
The discussion will highlight student stress, anxiety, depression, and other potential issues. The event is free to all Boerne ISD parents and community members to attend.
Future topics in the Parent and Community Education Speaker Series are: * Bullying: Signs and Symptoms; 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, Boerne High School auditorium.
* Drug Dangers - A Dose of Reality; 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, Champion H.S. auditorium.
* Human Trafficking In Plain Sight; 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, Boerne H.S. auditorium.
* Healthy Eating: Boost Your Mind, Body, & Mood; 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, Champion H.S. auditorium.
The goal of the Parent and Community Education Series is to inform stakeholders of potential dangers to our students, as well as to hear from experts in the field at each event.
This year we are partnering with the local pastoral alliance in hopes of attracting larger audiences to hear important information on these topics, and we encourage everyone in the community to attend these events.
We hope to see you there.
