Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jared Moore reigns as the School Resource Officer of the Year, as tabbed by the Texas Association of School Resource Officers.

Moore, positioned at Voss Middle School, received the award during the July 23-27 TASRO’s 10th annual Safe Schools Conference in Corpus Christi.

Moore was presented with a plaque for his achievement during the Aug. 14 Kendall County Commissioners meeting.

Moore attended Boerne schools growing up and graduated from Boerne High School in 2006. He started his law enforcement career in 2010 in Nueces County as a corrections officer. In 2012 he graduated from Victoria College Police Academy with his Texas Peace Officer License.

In 2014, Moore returned to his hometown and began working with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office as a patrol deputy.

The Boerne Independent School District walked away from the Safe Schools Conference with another officer being recognized.

Chief of Safety and Security Rick Goodrich was named the 2023 TASRO Administrator of the Year.

Goodrich joined BISD in August of 2022 after 22 years of law enforcement investigative experience with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), as well as 22 years of distinguished military service with the United States Air Force.

Goodrich most recently served as the supervisor for the San Antonio Texas Anti-Gang Initiative (TAG), which is a multiagency unit comprised of representatives from eight separate federal agencies, including, Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Boerne ISD has received regional and statewide recognition for hosting several law enforcement training events, as well as being recognized as an industry leader in school safety. Boerne ISD, along with the Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch police departments, and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, assigned each Boerne ISD campus with a designated SRO School Resource Officer beginning in the 2022-23 school year.

BISD and the law enforcement agencies share the costs associated with SROs, who are certified law enforcement officers responsible for safety and crime prevention in schools. SROs are active members of local law enforcement and have extensive background and training and will continue to train for various scenarios.
