The Boerne Independent School District has added security guard and hall monitor positions to secondary campuses beginning in the 2023-24 school year.
The district’s 10,800 students returned to campus on Thursday.
The new security features are in addition to all 12 campuses and Boerne Academy being assigned a school resource officer. The security guards and hall monitors are individuals who are mostly retired military members and are separate from campus SROs.
This is the second straight year the district -- along with the Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch police departments, and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office assigned each Boerne ISD campus with a designated resource officer.
