Comfort ISD Monday released its free- and reduced price meals for children served under current income eligibility guidelines. Each school, site and the CISD central office has a copy of the policy available on request.
When school opens Aug. 14, CISD will begin distributing letters about eligibility benefits and any actions households need to take to apply for benefits.
Criteria for free and reduced price meal benefits includes household income that is at or below the income eligibility levels; a child’s enrollment in Head Start or Even Start; if a household is receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); and a child’s status as a foster child, homeless, runaway, migrant, or displaced by a declared disaster.
An adult in a household qualifying based on income must fill out a free- and reduced-price meal application and return it to Breana Mosley, PEIMS & Child Nutrition Coordinator, 830-9956400 ext. 109.
Applicants will need to provide the following information: Names of all household members; amount, frequency, and source of current income for each household member; the signature of the adult household member attesting that the information provided is correct; and last four digits of the Social Security number of the applicant adult.
If the adult does not have a Social Security number, they will need to check the box for “No Social Security number” on the application.
Comfort ISD is working with local agencies to identify children who are categorically and program eligible. The district will notify the households of these children that they do not need to complete an application. Any household that does not receive a letter and feels it should have, needs to contact Mosley at 830995-6400, ext. 109.
