• Farmers Market at Herff Farm, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Buy products directly from local growers, ranchers, and crafters on a beautiful historic German farmstead in the Texas Hill Country. Explore the fenced gardens, pollinator meadow, and trails, and see the historic limestone Herff House. Details at: www.cibolo.org.

• Art in Conservation: Watercolor Class, Herff Farm, 10 a.m.-noon. Join artist Rebecca Burritt in watercolor class to learn to paint with the practice of the basic techniques; glazing, wet-in-wet, dry brush and more. Registration is preferred, beginners are welcome, and the recommended age is 12 and up. Registration and details available at: www. cibolo.org.

• Wellness in Nature: The Teen Series, Herff Farm, 1-2 p.m. Teens and young adults face a wide range of emotions because of unique stresses, transitions, and experiences that come with that stage of life. In this series, Gillian Rodriguez, MA, LPC, will teach how to integrate nature and wellness practices for mental health throughout adolescence and emerging young adulthood.

• Moondance Outdoor Concert: Micah Edwards, Cibolo Nature Center, 7 p.m.

Pack a picnic and head over to the Cibolo Nature Center for some music and fun under the oak trees. Doors open at 7 p.m. and music will begin at 7:30 p.m. Featured band is the Aaron Tilt Band. $10 for members, $15 for non-members; children 10 and under are free. • Kid’s Day at HEB Plus Boerne, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A fun-filled event for kids of all ages. Don’t miss out on all the fun.

• Old Jail Museum Tours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tour the Old Jail Museum and enjoy its unique exhibits. Tickets are $5 for adults; free for children under 10, veterans, and law enforcement.

• The Bookshop Under the Windmill, next to Patrick Heath Public Library (PHPL), 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Find some great books, magazines, and movies at great prices. The Bookshop is run by the Friends of the Boerne Public Library. Funds raised through the shop go back to the PHPL.

AUGUST 07

• Cibolo Nature Center Bird Survey, Cibolo Nature Center, 8-11:30 a.m. Volunteers will help identify and count bird species in the riparian, savannah, and human structure habitats of Cibolo Nature Center and submit findings to eBird (an online database). There will be several miles of walking on generally flat ground. All levels of birding experience are welcome.

• Savvy with Samsa, PHPL lobby, 10-11 a.m. Oemuer is in the lobby Monday mornings to help answer your technology-related questions.

AUGUST 08

• Ribbon-cutting for Heights Digital Media, The Boerne Mural at Corner Cartel, 11:30 a.m.-noon. Join a ribbon-cutting celebrating Heights Digital Media, a digital advertisement agency that specializes in web design, video production and content creation, social media management, SEO improvements, graphic design and more. The ribbon-cutting will be held at the Boerne Mural at Corner Cartel on Main Street. Attendees are invited back to the chamber office for networking.

• Ribbon-cutting for St. John Lutheran School, St. John Lutheran Church, 1:30-2 p.m. Join a ribbon-cutting celebrating St. John Lutheran School. They aim to serve as an extension of a child’s home and church. The school has an experienced, caring school staff. Their classes will offer low student- teacher ratios so students can receive the personalized attention and individualized instruction they need.

• Boerne Public Facility Corporation Board Meeting, Boerne City Hall, 5 p.m. Meeting will take place in the Ronald C. Bowman City Council chambers.

• Boerne City Council Meeting starts at 6 p.m. The meeting can be livestreamed at: www.ci.boerne. tx.us.

• Free car seat inspection, Boerne Police Department, 3-5 p.m. Are your children buckled up correctly? Nearly 2 out of 3 car seats are used incorrectly. Come to the Boerne Police Department with your child(ren)’s height and weight for a free car seat inspection. A limited number of replacement seats will be available. • Boerne Nonprofit Day Proclamation, Boerne City Hall, 9-10 a.m.

Join Mayor Frank Ritchie as he releases a proclamation declaring Aug. 17 as “Boerne Nonprofit Day.” All nonprofit chamber members in the Boerne area have been invited to celebrate each other and their successes.

• Chamber Wednesday Leads Group, Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce boardroom, 11 a.m.-noon. Learn to be a part of the chamber’s exclusive Leads Group Program and join with other dedicated chamber members and business professionals to grow and expand your business. • Cibolo Summer Series: August Hikes, at Cibolo Nature Center, 9:30-11 a.m. These easy, investigative, and enriching walks will explore a different topic/ niche that connects the Hill Country landscape. Summer is here, and the butterflies are plentiful. Learn more about how to attract these valuable pollinators and how to manage a wildscape for these cornerstone species. $10 to attend, for ages 18 and older.

• Chamber Thursday Leads Group, Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce boardroom, 8-9 a.m. Learn how to be part of the chamber’s exclusive Leads Group Program and join with other dedicated chamber members and business professionals to grow and expand business. • Texas Treasures Fine Art Gallery & Frame Shop’s grand opening, from 4-8 p.m. Join Texas Treasures Fine Art Gallery & Frame Shop’s new location grand opening and their 12th anniversary Show & Sale. Live music, food, live art demonstrations, a meet-and-greet with artists, an open, and more. This event is free to the public.

• Movie in the Park: “Grease,” Boerne City Park, 7 p.m. Boerne Parks and Recreation hosts Movies in the Park. These free, family- friendly movies start at sundown, but attendees are urged to arrive early for pre-movie fun, with open swim and pool games at the Boerne Municipal Pool starting at 6:30 p.m. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks.

• Hill Country Newcomers meeting, St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 10 a.m.-noon.

The first general meeting of the Hill Country Newcomers 2023-24 club year will be held at the Family Life Center of St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 208 W. Bandera Road.
