A one-car rollover July 14 on Ranch Road 1888 north of Boerne left a Spring Branch man dead and a passenger injured.

State Highway Patrol Sgt. Kenny Mata Wednesday said Carl Christopher Gagliardi, 43, died after losing control of his car in the 9600 block of FM 1888 near Green Kingdom Road, about 13 miles west of Blanco.

A preliminary investigation indicated the driver of the 2022 Porsche 911 Carrera was traveling east on RM 1888 approaching a curve. The driver failed to negotiate the curve causing his vehicle to drive off the roadway, Mata said.

Kendall County dispatch fielded a 9-1-1 call at 11:11 p.m. from the passenger, 38-year-old Morgan Lasso, who said the vehicle had crashed, flipped and came to rest upside-down.

As first responders from Kendall, Blanco and Gillespie counties raced to the site, Lasso told dispatch that Gagliardi had a weak pulse and was bleeding from the mouth.

Ten minutes after the crash, the passenger reported she managed to crawl out but said Gagliardi remained trapped inside.

Two minutes later, Lasso told police she had freed him from his seat belt, he was lying flat but still inside the vehicle, and she had started to administer CPR.

At 11:41 p.m., a Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived and took over CPR. Less than a minute later, Blanco County EMS and a deputy made the scene.

A call came into Kendall dispatch at 11:44 p.m. from first responders on site that the driver was trapped in the vehicle and showing no signs of life. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report said Lasso sustained injuries and was transported by Blanco EMS to Del Seton Medical Center in Austin.
