FOURTHOF JULY

Boerne readies for July Fourth fireworks show

The best community fireworks show this side of Cibolo Creek is scheduled to return on Tuesday, July 4.

The annual Boerne Independence Day fireworks show is set to begin at 9:15 p.m. with prime viewing available at the Kendall County Fairgrounds, and Champion High School. Please note, unlike in previous years, Boerne City Park will only be available for parking this year due to the proximity of the fields to the fireworks and others being closed for repairs.

The show is free, open to the public and scheduled to last 20-25 minutes.

To prepare for the show, on Tuesday morning a fireworks team will begin setting up and loading the tubes. The tubes have to be properly set up, cleaned, and anchored together, with the larger tubes being buried for safety purposes. Then the process of loading more than 500 tubes with the fireworks material begins.

Emergency crews and equipment are also strategically located in the fireworks “fall zone” to prevent potential fire issues. The State of Texas requires that a qualified individual with a pyrotechnic license manage and oversee the entire show from start to finish. Fire Chief Manny Casarez will be in charge of shooting the show.

Residents are reminded that city ordinances prohibit personal fireworks inside the city limits, which includes the Kendall County Fairgrounds. Bring your own refreshments, along with blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the show!
