Session 5 July 25 --Stone Carving An ancient art form, stone carving has long been used by humans to express themselves. We will use a rotary tool on marble and slate. Explore the methods of subtractive relief carving with heat, water, and refinement.
August 1 --Moulded Paper with Gilder’s Paste
Embossed paper with an old world approach. To complete our process, we will embellish our raised patterns with colored inks and gilding wax to emphasize the positive and negative forms.
August 8 --Eco Print Book
A process of dyeing with objects collected from nature. The paper is dyed through a heat process and then dried and bound into a stunning showcase book.
August 15 --Pendant with Soldered Bail
Enjoy a metals itching class that dives into metal cutting, forming, torch soldering, and finishing. Choose your unique shape, texture, and finish to create an original pendant sure to cause envy. Cut a pendant shape and bail from non ferrous metal. Texture and form to metal. Attach the bail to the pendant and finally finish and polish for a statement piece.
August 22 and August 29, 2-part class --Stained Glass Candle Holder Building on our three dimensional stained glass exploration, we will fabricate a beveled glass candleholder. Using a copper foil method of stained glass, solder flat panels into a standing vessel. Practice traditional stained glass techniques of cutting, foiling, soldering, and finishing. Immerse yourself in an old world art form, in a two part class, full of fun and friendship.
Art AfterHours, Session 4 remaining classes June 27 --Airbrushing A nod to graphical arts, airbrushing involves atomizing paint with pressure through a fine spray nozzle. Our application will use layering paint colors and stencils to develop a finished image. Produce an image on paper, or bring a t-shirt to explore further.
July 11 --Embellished Glass Pendant
Use soft soldering techniques, wire, and glass to build a decorative glass pendant. If you have dabbled in stained glass, then this class is a perfect complement. Shape wire and attach assemblages to a glass base. Construct a wire bail for hanging while probing the processes of soldering and metal finishes.
