The Boerne Champion girls soccer team was entered in its first tournament of the season last weekend when they participated in the NEISD tourney where they posted a win against two losses.
Champion is 2-2 and will play in the Georgetown Tournament this weekend.
In its first match of the tourney, the Lady Chargers battled Reagan to a 2-2 tie. From there, it went to penalty kicks and the Rattlers advanced after winning in PKs, 4-3.
The match was pretty even with 11 shots each, with 8 shots on goal for Reagan and 9 shots on goal for Champion.
All four goals in regulation came in the first half. Reagan Burkey put Champion on the board first in the 17th minute, but less than two minutes later, Reagan tied it at 1-1.
The Rattlers took the lead at 2-1 in the 28th minute and then with less two minutes left until halftime, Emma Mae Dixon tied it up.
On Friday, Champion edged Madison 1-0 in a defensive struggle. The Lady Mavericks outshot the Chargers, 12-8.
Mya Serda had the team’s only goal and it came early in the match, in the ninth minute.
Maddie Micale and Lola Vaughan combined for nine saves in the match, 5 from Micale and 4 from Vaughan.
From there, the Chargers took on Johnson on Saturday to close out the tourney and was shutout for the first time this season, 2-0.
