The Comfort Bobcats traveled to Blanco on Friday for its first district contest of the season and suffered a 30-point defeat.

The Comfort Bobcats traveled to Blanco on Friday for its first district contest of the season and suffered a 30-point defeat.

Blanco beat the Bobcats, 64-34. With the loss the Cats fall to 10-15 on the season and 0-1 in district play. They hosted Florence on Tuesday.

Blanco jumped out to a 23-7 lead in the first quarter and then it was more of the same in the second after the Panthers claimed the stanza, 25-6, for the 48-13 halftime lead.

Blanco struggled in the third and didn’t score a point, but Comfort didn’t make up much ground after they only tallied 6 points in the period to make the score 48-19 as the game went into the final stanza.

It was back and forth in the fourth quarter as the Bobcats turned in their best scoring period of the night with 15 points, but Blanco kept pace and netted 16 for the 30-point win.

Jovani Zapata was the only Comfort player in double figures with 11, Joel Lozano added 8, Eli Gilliland chipped in with 7, Tony Ybarra finished with 5, Landon Aguirre had 2 and Ollie Engleman made a free throw.
