A 23-year-old San Antonio resident, Mark Anthony Brown, was sentenced to 25 years in state prison earlier this month for the aggravated robbery of a Kendall County resident.
The aggravated robbery charge was a first-degree felony, meaning Brown faced between 5 and99 years in state prison.
On Oct. 28, 2020, deputies responded to an armed robbery call in the 400 block of Mountain Creek Trail in Kendalia. Deputy Branndon McElroy spoke with the victim at the scene, who he said was scared and “visibly shaking.”
The victim said she withdrew cash from a bank at The Rim before traveling westbound on the Interstate 10 frontage road to McDonalds at Ralph Fair Road. She then drove north on Farm-to-Market Road 3351 toward her neighborhood and stopped at her communal mailboxes.
The victim said she believes the suspect followed her to her neighborhood from the Rim.
The victim said she heard someone running toward her and described a suspect as “a black male in a dark blue hoody, black sweatpants, black shoes and a black face mask.” She claimed the man pointed a handgun at her and also said a second individual was at the scene.
An alleged accomplice of Brown’s in the 2020 aggravated robbery, 23-year-old Montrell Keno, remains in custody at the Kendall County Jail after leading deputies on a year-long hunt after the robbery. He was apprehended by deputies in December of last year and is being held without bond for violating his parole conditions on two other felony charges.
Because there was an affirmative finding of a deadly weapon during Brown’s sentencing, he will be required to serve half his 25-year term before becoming eligible for parole consideration.
