Champion boys soccer has 5 named all-district

The Boerne Champion boys soccer team had five members selected to one of the 26-5A all-district teams for the 2022 season.

Senior Calvin Perryman was the Chargers’ lone first-team selection and senior Gabe Hernandez was the squad’s only second-team pick.

Three Champion players were selected honorable mention after senior Noah Sherman, senior Jack Weltens and senior William Manarpaac made the HM list.

Champion didn’t make the playoffs this year and went into the final week of the regular season still in the playoff hunt and had to win both matches that week but came up short to Kerrville Tivy in that Tuesday match. It was tied 1-1 at halftime, but an injury really hurt the Chargers team which lost that match, 3-1.

They closed out the regular season that Friday with a 3-3 tie against Buda Johnson to end the 2022 year with a record of 6-9-5 overall and 5-8-3 in district.
