Boerne Champion played at the 5A boys state golf tournament earlier this week and one Charger brought home an individual medal.
Maximus Cavazos earned an individual silver medal after he finished in second place with rounds of 69 and 70 for a 139.
Cavazos set two Charger golf records with his performance and is the first to win an individual medal at state and the senior also set the school mark for the best individual score at state.
As a team, the Chargers placed fifth with a 603 with rounds of 301 and 302. Champion was actually in second place after the first day but fell to fifth after several teams made their move on Day 2.
Cavazos led the team with a 139 (69,70), Phoenix Guerra scored a 151 with rounds of 75 and 76, Roy Barrera IV scored a 156 with rounds of 77 and 79, Aidan Taylor finished with a 157 after shooting 80 and 77 and Zach Franz rounded out the team with a 160 after carding an 81 and 79.
Austin Anderson won the 5A team title with a score of 587 (294,293), Dallas Highland Park Blue was second with a 591 (303,288) and Dallas Highland Park Gold took third with a 594 (303,291).
Keaton Vo of Austin Anderson was the individual champion with a 133 (67,66) to beat Cavazos by six strokes and Nicholas Canales finished third with a 142 (69,73).
