Champion will be well represented at this year’s 5A state track and field meet scheduled for Friday in Austin on the University of Texas campus.
In all, a total of 11 athletes qualified in 9 events, plus 5 alternates will attend.
Chachi Gonzales is a triple qualifier and will race in the 3200, 1600 and 800, Connor Warzecha will throw in the discus and Ephraim Tonn-Bourg will compete in the 100 and 400 wheelchair events.
Three different relays made it for the Chargers after the boys 4x100 and 4x200 and the girls 4x400 all qualified.
Addison Hankins, Regan Garcia, Meghan Huerta and Riley Burkey will team up in the 4x400 and Corbin Mitchell, Arlis Adickes, Alex Rodriguez and Sawyer Bolli will race in the boys 4x100, while Bolli, Adickes, Rodriguez and Mitchell will compete in the 4x200 as well.
Caleb Smith and Luke Rossi will serve as alternates on the 4x100 relay and Smith and Ranger Lewis will be alternates on the 4x200, while Kate Williams and Reagan Burkey will serve as alternates on the 4x400.
